Kilimanjaro 7 Days Lemosho Route | Prehemy Tours
Mount Kilimanjaro - Tanzania Trekking Package More > 1 Group
The Kilimanjaro 7 Days Lemosho Route is one of the most picturesque and least crowded routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. Starting from the lush rainforest on the western side of the mountain, this route provides stunning views and a diverse range of ecosystems, from dense jungles to high-altitude deserts. The 7-day itinerary offers ample time for acclimatization, significantly enhancing the chances of reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
This route is perfect for climbers who wish to experience the natural beauty of Kilimanjaro while enjoying a slightly less strenuous climb due to the gradual ascent.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
Your adventure begins with a drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate for registration, followed by a short drive to the trailhead. The trek starts in the rainforest, where you may spot monkeys and various bird species. After 3-4 hours of trekking, you’ll reach Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820 meters) for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp
As you leave the rainforest behind, the trail leads you into the moorland zone, revealing stunning views of the mountain. This trek takes approximately 5-6 hours, culminating at Shira 1 Camp (3,610 meters), where you will enjoy dinner and overnight accommodations.
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
Today involves a scenic hike across the Shira Plateau. This relatively short trek of about 3-4 hours allows for acclimatization and includes captivating views of the mountain. You’ll arrive at Shira 2 Camp (3,850 meters) for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
Today’s trek takes you to Lava Tower (4,640 meters) for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp (3,960 meters). This “climb high, sleep low” strategy is crucial for acclimatization. Expect to trek for 6-7 hours, with dinner and overnight at Barranco Camp.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Begin your day by scaling the impressive Barranco Wall, which offers incredible views. After conquering the wall, you’ll trek through alpine desert terrain to reach Karanga Camp (4,035 meters). This shorter day takes about 4-5 hours. Dinner and overnight at Karanga Camp.
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Continue your ascent through the barren landscapes toward Barafu Camp (4,640 meters), the last camp before the summit. This trek takes approximately 3-4 hours, allowing you time to rest and prepare for the midnight summit push. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Barafu Camp.
Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and Descend to Mweka Camp
Your summit attempt begins around midnight. Trek upward, reaching Stella Point (5,739 meters) as the sun rises. A final push leads you to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest and breakfast before continuing to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters) for dinner and overnight. Expect a total trek time of 10-14 hours.
