Day 1: Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

Your adventure begins with a drive from Arusha to Momella Gate for registration. From there, the trek starts through the lush montane forest, where you may spot various bird species and monkeys. After approximately 4-5 hours of hiking, you will reach Miriakamba Hut (2,500 meters) for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

Today’s trek takes you from Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (3,570 meters), a journey of about 3-4 hours. The trail ascends through alpine meadows and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Upon arrival at Saddle Hut, you will have dinner and prepare for the summit attempt the next day.

Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Saddle Hut

This day is set aside for acclimatization. You can hike to the nearby Little Meru (3,820 meters) for breathtaking views of the summit and the surrounding area. After your acclimatization hike, return to Saddle Hut for dinner and overnight. This day is essential for preparing your body for the higher altitudes.

Day 4: Saddle Hut to the Summit and Descend to Momella Gate

Your summit attempt begins early in the morning. The climb to the summit of Mount Meru (4,566 meters) takes approximately 4-5 hours. After enjoying the breathtaking views from the summit, you will descend back to Saddle Hut for a short break before continuing down to Momella Gate. Expect a total trekking time of about 10-12 hours on this final day.
